Lockheed Martin to develop space-based infrared system for US Air Force

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co., has secured a modification contract from the US Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Los Angeles Air Force Base (Los Angeles AFB), under a previously awarded contract.

Under the terms of the contract, the contractor will be responsible for space-based infrared system (SBIRS) engineering, manufacture and development.

Lockheed Martin will enhance cyber capabilities on the operational SBIRS ground system.

This US $15 million contract has been awarded in March 2017.

Work under this contract will be performed at the company’s facility in Sunnyvale, California, and is expected to be completed in June 2019.
