General Atomics awarded MQ-9 technology maturation effort contract

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc., (GA-ASI) has secured an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the MQ-9 technology maturation effort.

As per the contract, the effort will provide a wide array of enterprising activities associated with development of capabilities for the MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aircraft system (UAS).

The scope of the contract is to develop approved capabilities for the MQ-9 UAS to satisfy criteria to be on-ramped onto a contract to integrate the capability into the MQ-9 fleet.

Each capability will be examined individually for logistics and engineering implications, impacts, risks, and operational suitability prior to integration on-ramping decisions.

This US$98 million contract has been awarded by the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in March 2017.

Work will be performed at the company’s facility in Poway, California, and orders will be placed by September 2021.
