Israel places request for $440 million sale of 76mm Naval Guns from US

The US State Department has approved a possible foreign military sale (FMS) of 76mm naval guns and technical support to the Israel Ministry of Defense (MoD).
Under this US$440 million sale, Israel has requested for the supply of a total thirteen (13) 76mm naval guns which will be installed on Israeli Navy SA’AR 4.5 and SA’AR 6 Missile Patrol Boats. One gun will be located at an Israeli Naval Training Center to be used for training maintenance personnel.

Israel also requested for shipboard spares to support their operation and preventive maintenance, spares to support repairs, and special tools needed for maintenance.

The purchase will support Israel’s in improving its capabilities in current and future threats in the defense of its borders and territorial waters.

DRS North America, a Leonardo company, is the expected prime contractor for this FMS programme.
